01 — The brief

The problem it solves

North York Counselling Services is the practice of psychotherapist Andrea Fiorini, offering individual, couples and youth counselling. Its site had been built on WordPress with a page-builder theme — the kind of setup that needs constant plugin updates and paid hosting just to stay online.

The brief: recreate the site from a WordPress backup as a static site that looks the same to every returning client, keeps every page and article at its address, and leaves nothing behind to update or patch.

02 — What we built

Features that do real work.

The same site, rebuilt

The original theme's look recreated by hand — fonts, icons, layouts and expandable “Read More” cards — so returning clients see nothing unfamiliar.

Every address kept

Pages and articles stay at their original WordPress permalinks, and old image paths redirect to their new home.

Booking paths intact

Online booking through the practice's booking system, a free-consultation request, and the phone number in the top bar.

Fees and what to expect

Published fees, a sliding scale, and a seven-part “What to Expect” section for people new to therapy.

Site search

A lightweight search across every page, with no server behind it.

03 — How it's put together

Structure

Therapist profile, services and fees, support topics, programs such as an eight-week mindfulness course, and the practice's archive of articles — organised as before, so nothing moved.

Under the hood

  • Static build on Netlify with HTTPS enforced and the www and http versions redirected to one address
  • Contact forms through Netlify Forms with spam protection
  • LocalBusiness structured data with the practice's address on every page

Details that matter

  • Old WordPress image URLs redirect instead of breaking
  • No database, no admin login and no plugin updates — less to secure on a health practice's site
  • A click-to-load video player for embedded talks

A migration done right is invisible to visitors: same pages, same addresses, same look — and a site the practice never has to patch again.
