01 — The brief

The problem it solves

Canadian companies undersell themselves, and Canadian builders work in isolation from one another. The support that exists is scattered across fourteen governments, six regional development agencies and a few hundred organizations.

The brief: make Canadian work easy to find and easy to back — a free, bilingual portal that puts Canadian companies in front of the world and puts the country's own support system in front of Canadians, scoped to the city you work in.

909indexable pages
411company profiles

02 — What we built

Features that do real work.

Pick your city

A first-visit city picker that narrows the business board, the political tracker and the TSX tracker to where you actually work.

Business board

Public tenders and open calls pulled from federal, provincial and municipal sources, with a hand-checked form for posting to the board.

Political tracker

Business-relevant decisions and statements from government newsrooms and Hansard, each stamped and linked to its source.

TSX tracker

Prices, sector moves and company filings for the Toronto-listed companies in your view.

Culture leaders

Companies read through three lenses — Culture, Capabilities, Capital — with a published note on how each claim is chosen and checked.

Supports and Ideas Lab

Programs and capital open to you, by metro, plus funded research projects that keep “funded” and “evidenced” apart.

03 — How it's put together

Structure

Templated pages for every company, person, news story, city hub, city guide and metro map are generated from structured data; six launch cities each get a hub and a guide built on Statistics Canada figures.

Under the hood

  • Static pages plus small JavaScript modules reading JSON data files; a serverless refresh endpoint keeps the trackers current
  • Schema: Organization, Person, NewsArticle, Article, City, CollectionPage and ItemList
  • English and French in one page, switched instantly without a reload

Details that matter

  • “Listings are editorial and free” — no paid placement anywhere on the site
  • Sources named and linked on every tracker row
  • Support maps stamped with the month they were last checked

A portal is only as useful as the view it gives you: scope everything to the user's city and the national firehose becomes a local market you can act on.
