AuditYourHome Know your home before you spend on it.
Find an NRCan-registered energy advisor, compare real prices and see which rebates are actually open — across 70 Canadian cities.

01 — The brief
The problem it solves
Canada's official tool for finding an energy auditor is, in the site's words, a phone list. Rebates close with little notice while much of the internet still advertises them, and lead platforms sell “energy audit” enquiries to solar and HVAC sales reps.
The brief: a directory homeowners can trust — real providers, published prices, programs stamped with the date they were last verified — plus tools that tell a homeowner what their house actually needs.
02 — What we built
Features that do real work.
Home Energy Planner
Six short steps in, an energy profile out: the order to do upgrades in, savings ranges and the rebates that are live. It runs entirely in the browser and its assumptions are published.
Specialty test screener
Five questions that flag which tests a home needs — radon, carbon monoxide, mould, asbestos, lead, well water.
Find an auditor
Provider cards with an approved-for-rebates badge, published prices and quick links to Maps, HomeStars and the BBB.
Program tracker
Every rebate program carries a “Verified” date. Closed programs stay on the site, marked closed, so nobody chases a dead rebate.
City pages with real data
Each city page pulls Census 2021 housing age, NRCan heating degree-days and Health Canada radon survey figures, each with its source.
03 — How it's put together
Structure
Service × city pages (for example, radon testing in Regina) are generated from structured data, alongside province pages, Ontario regional guides, provider profiles, program pages and test guides.
Under the hood
- Astro static build — fast pages with almost no JavaScript outside the tools
- Schema: WebSite, Organization, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, ItemList and ProfessionalService
- robots.txt explicitly welcomes AI crawlers, so answer engines can cite the data
Details that matter
- Listings are free and placement is never sold; providers that publish prices sort first
- The planner and screener store nothing — “runs entirely in your browser”
- Instrument-style labels (“Depressurized to 50 Pa”) that make technical tests legible
Programmatic SEO that earns its pages: each of the 1,120 service-by-city pages carries local, sourced data a homeowner can use, not a find-and-replace city name.
